This snippet, taken from Wikepedia, (open source article) describes the origins of e-zines.
CULT OF THE DEAD COW claims to have published the first ezine, starting in 1984, with its ezine still in production more than 20 years later. While this claim is hotly debated, ezines certainly began in the BBS days of the 1980s. Phrack began publication in 1985 and, unlike CULT OF THE DEAD COW which publishes articles individually, Phrack published collections of articles in a manner more similar to a print magazine.
Our own interpretation of a v-zine is an extension of e-zine which incorporates the interactive input of streaming video and games. In other words an e-zine that has evolved from the old style web 1.0 to the new visual aspect of Web 2.0.
We have entered a description into wikepedia, but unfortunately they cannot endorse it as there are (as yet), no other reference to the meaning.
At present we are searching for other references in order to make the entry acceptable to Wikepedia.
Your thoughts and references would be more than welcome.
