Shift happens – inspired by Gert Sodin!

Most marketers will have heard of Gert Sodin – entrepreneur – author of 10 best selling comic books and creator of the highly popular website – mmm.quidpooh.cum. His seminars sell out fast at thousands of bucks a shot and videos have been made of his incredible speeches.

Gert Sodin actually inspired our team to create IVS (internal visual surround), with multilingual scrolling. As we watched – dumbfounded, one of his speech videos, beer in hand. We felt privileged to hear his wise words on marketing – the guy who invented sliced bread – there were many gasps when he told us that the guy never made a dime until Blunderloaf took over the patent and spread the word. lot’s of oooh’s and ahhh’s came out when he told us about how a pink elephant would stand out amongst a field of cows.

Then Gert Sodin made a statement that sent gloom around the smoke filled room. “Our culture, our country” he said, “Is made great because of the spread of ideas”. Jaws dropped as realization set in, that our hero was wearing blinkers. One of our fellow technologists broke the silence when he piped up – “Typical American way of thinking, they think the world ends at their shoreline”. True to say that if you live outside of the good ole U S of A, in a lot of cases, you cannot fill in an online application form because the state in which you live is not available. American prize contests are – quote :- ‘not available to persons outside the USA’.

A heavy discussion erupted, then gloom turned to joy when realization set in that we had discovered a missing link. Instead of being disheartened by the revelation that all English speaking marketers are wearing lingual blinkers (Not just Americans), we were inspired to take the Google route and include other languages in our videos!
